But typically this species in encountered in Utah during spring and fall raptor flights--more common in the fall.

Or did I miss this completely?Tim Averyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17632013488170310609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6954081165153280225.post-17485135343537315102011-06-27T16:13:45.669-06:002011-06-27T16:13:45.669-06:00Forgot to mention.....this bird is photgraphed rig...Forgot to mention.....this bird is photgraphed right in the middle of the woods which would work very well for a BW being this is their primary type of habitat......

Robert ViscontiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6954081165153280225.post-43735473960206403702011-06-27T16:04:53.833-06:002011-06-27T16:04:53.833-06:00Looks like a Broad-winged Hawk to me (Juvenile):
...Looks like a Broad-winged Hawk to me (Juvenile):

The short stocky legs are keeping me away from the RS species......

Don't see any kind of accipiter here, especially with legs like that!

The amount of streaking looks good for a BW. Looks to be too much and too thick for a RS.

I'm seeing the malar stripe over here too!

I'd like to get 2 out of 3 over here.......

We'll see....

Robert Visconti - Lindenhturt, ILAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
