I was certainly shocked and more impo...Great recap. I was certainly shocked and more importantly, excited to round the bend and see a bunch of birders enjoying the evening bird life. I was where you stood 10 minutes prior, but went chasing after some magpies mobbing an invisible something-or-other. I'll admit, it took a second to realize I wasn't hallucinating when I returned and found the crowd. A nice bonus to my moon owl chase. <br /><br />Thanks for allowing me to join the group to look for flammy's... it was a hoot! Thanks also to whoever pointed out the space station flyover. I always love watching it zoom across the sky and consider the achievement of space travel. <br /><br />After running from the cops, I almost drove into a Common Poorwill. (My first look at the species.) The cop was cool. He pulled up and told me I was in a "not a good place to be parked after dark." I told him I was leaving and everyone else was looking for owls. He said, "Oh, lemme shut off my lights." That was nice of him.<br /><br />This was obviously a well led trip.
