I'm always amazed at the blue of a Mountain Bluebird. Also, Green-tailed Towhees are beautiful. Despite the hideousness of your vulture, there is something pretty cool about it because there's a reason it is the way it is......But an ugly brute to be sure. Also on the all-ugly-team, I'd put Storks (google the Greater Adjutant).
Most Beautiful? I can think of plenty for this, so I will stick to birds of North America and my surprising pick is the Spotted Owl. It doesn't stand out as an obvious contender, but when you think about it, it has a subtle beauty that fits its niche in nature quite well.
On the ugly side of things my vote goes for the Wood Stork.
Most beautiful goes to either the Superb Fairy Wren (which my wife calls a drab bird wearing a Halloween mask) or Scarlet Macaw. I thought I would stick with US birds, but I figured if I didn't it'd give people the chance to look up a great bird they might have never seen before. If I were to stick to a North American bird, I'd have to give it to the Lewis's Woodpecker!
My ugly bird has to go to the Burrowing Owl. I know that may surprise a few people, but to me, they're just so goofy looking.
For me, it's the American Kestrel. I just love this bird and think it is gorgeous! It is amazing to me that they are all around us and most people don't even know. I can't pick an ugliest... though this vulture seems like a good contender.
Great work buddy, keep it up
