Starlings Poisoned

posted by Jeff Bilsky at

Hundreds of Starlings were found dead in South Dakota. The US Government poisoned them for crapping in the wrong spot:

They assure that the poisoned dead birds do not pose a risk to nearby animals or humans.

I'm wondering how they can be sure there's no risk. I would think if another animal ate an animal that had been poisoned there would be a risk of ingesting the same poison. That seems a little odd but who knows.

Well, this pdf states that studies have shown that there is no risk to other animals besides poultry, crows and blackbirds. Usually I wait a while before I believe such a statement. Only time will tell if that stands true.

If it were up to me, I'd try and get rid of the starlings and the feedlot. Neither of them should have a place in our society.

Any animal that eats those poisoned birds will die or at the least, get sick.

Check out this article. Obviously they have their own agenda and opinions, but it does appear that perhaps the recent attention to bird deaths in the media might help bring to light some potentially disturbing truths.
