Here are 3 silhouettes of raptors...just though I would post them for fun and any guesses (well, not guesses...ID's).

I'll take a stab at it.

1: Red-tailed Hawk
2: Peregrine Falcom
3: American Kestrel

I'm not at all confident on any of these. It'll be interesting to see what the results are.

Only one taker on this....I know there is more than one birder in Utah?

Oh well, this was the last photo quiz anyway.

@Jerry: Fine, I will take it--this better NOT be your last--these are great, I think the reason people aren't guessing is they either don't know, or don't want to guess incorrectly. I don't care if I get all 3 wrong so here goes:

1. First impression was Buteo--maybe a Broad-winged Hawk, but I'm not positive.

2. I agree with Bryce this is a Peregrine Falcon

3. Mississippi Kite, heck I don't know.

Maybe this is a trick quiz and all 3 of these are falcons!

People shouldn't care if they get one wrong....I don't know anyone who has gotten every bird correct in their life. Or even every bird in one day sometimes.

Thanks for the post Tim.

Yes, Broad-winged and Mississippi Kite, but the falcon is a Gyrfalcon (a tough one because it isn't a normal quiz bird.)

@Jerry: Ah curses! Stupid falcon! :) Haha. I agree, people shouldn't care, but a lot of birders do regardless of whatever reason.

Thanks again for the quiz! I need to pull out your books again and take a look at the falcons!

The more I learn about raptors the more I realize I have to learn, which is why I didnt guess.

Susan, that is one of the best lessons a birder can learn! It is impossible to know it all, and there is always more to learn....
