A much easier quiz bird.....taken on June 7 in Utah. Please don't ask where, I don't offer locations of nesting birds (or possible nesters) I run across or hear of...thanks.

Looks like a Broad-winged Hawk to me (Juvenile):
The short stocky legs are keeping me away from the RS species......
Don't see any kind of accipiter here, especially with legs like that!
The amount of streaking looks good for a BW. Looks to be too much and too thick for a RS.
I'm seeing the malar stripe over here too!
I'd like to get 2 out of 3 over here.......
We'll see....

Forgot to mention.....this bird is photgraphed right in the middle of the woods which would work very well for a BW being this is their primary type of habitat......

Jerry: Was this in your yard? Haha, Not everyday you see this species perched in Gambel's Oak--or in Utah in June. I am not going to weigh in here so others can still jump in. But typically this species in encountered in Utah during spring and fall raptor flights--more common in the fall.
Or did I miss this completely?
Adult Broad-winged hawk. Breast pattern, dark eye and bold black/white tail pattern
